MARINA BAS-DU-FORT

Half-way between Martinique and Saint-Martin
Marina Bas-du-Fort is located in a unique setting in Pointe-à-Pitre at the center of the island, a 30-minute walk to town center, a 10-minute drive to the international airport, close to the finest Caribbean beaches and most beautiful tourist sites.
The entrance channel is well marked by buoys and beacons.
Marina Bas-du-Fort is a well-protected full service marina with 1150 berths on 23 docks, 60 mooring buoys and a shipyard. You can anchor outside the marina, to the west at Pointe Fouillole, to the north of Ilet à Cochon and the Carenage.

Most of the yacht services are found at the marina, the shipyard, the adjacent compound « Porte de la Marina » and the carenage.

You can order online and enjoy a quick delivery, including to Martinique, Saint Martin, St Barths and the Guadeloupe islands. Visit also their 500 m2 store in Jarry, Baie-Mahault.
Clean Boat Services (06 90 75 77 97) - mobile workshop) - Pascal specializes in the cleaning and repair of polyester boat hulls and will take care of all you paint work (antifouling, lacquer).

Your dream anchorage
Near the Pointe-à-Pitre channel, Ilet Gosier is a very popular anchorage especially with locals on Sundays. Protected by a coral reef, this anchorage is comfortable and safe in the day and night but can be rolly. Easy to access, there is a pontoon to go on land and the view of Les Saintes, Marie-Galante and La Soufriere is spectacular.
ANSE DE SAINTE-ANNE

Enjoy the beautiful view of Sainte-Anne Beach
This anchorage is midway between the marinas of Bas-du-Fort and Le François, the access is somewhat delicate. You can anchor to the North-Eastern tip or opposite the small fishing harbour, accessible only by dinghy. Mooring is also allowed to the East, in front of Club Med at the beach of Caravelle (crowded with regulated access).

SAINT-FRANÇOIS

A good shelter, protected by the coral reef barrier
Located to the East of Guadeloupe, Saint-François, a fancy tourist resort area located next to one of the most beautiful lagoons in Guadeloupe, has two anchorages: one at the fishing and ferry harbour in front of the town, the other, in Anse Champagne, outside of the yacht marina.

GRAND CUL-DE-SAC MARIN
Discover unique surroundings
Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin is a 15000 ha vast lagoon located at the north of Riviere Salée, between Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre, one of the most beautiful national parks in the Lesser Antilles. There’s a huge mangrove, a long coral wall with lots of wonderful places to snorkel, see tropical fish and watch birds.
Anchoring is now prohibited in many areas in the Parc National de Guadeloupe in order to protect the fragile eco-system. Mooring buoys must be used.

Port de Baie-Mahault - Located in the calm water body of Grand Cul-de-Sac, this small harbour away from the city has a few births for local fishing boats and leisure crafts.
Jarry in Baie-Mahault, is the most important industrial/commercial area in Guadeloupe. This is where you will find several boating businesses (Uship, Wind, Captain’Nautic…) as well as specialized stores such as Decathlon or Mr Bricolage.

ANSE DESHAIES

A picturesque anchorage on the leeward coast
Deshaies is a picturesque fishing village located to the north west of Basse-Terre. The bay was once used by privateers who dropped anchor here to stock up on fresh water. New mooring buoys have been laid, a daily fee has to be paid to the town authorities. You can also anchor further out, away from the mooring area in approx. 30-40 ft. Make sure your anchor is strong as you sometimes get currents running parallel to the coast and strong winds coming from the town down off the mountains. A great spot to stop off at as you head North.

You will find an ATM at the post office (La Poste), a bakery, some convenience stores, a deli store and a new laundry in town is expected to open. It’s also possible to rent a car.

PIGEON ISLANDS

The best diving spot in Guadeloupe
Surrounding the Pigeon Islands, the Cousteau Reserve is a protected underwater park with coral reefs, lots of colorful fish, sponges, sea turtles and other sea creatures. Anchorage is forbidden in the National Park, you must use a mooring buoy.

ANSE A LA BARQUE

Lush greenery and calm water
Anse La Barque is a small anchorage surrounded by palm trees, ideal for cruisers. Considered one of the best shelters on the leeward coast after Deshaies, it is very popular with the locals, which often means visitors have to anchor outside, in 7 to 10m of water.
MARINA DE RIVIERE-SENS

Between sea and mountain
South of Basse-Terre, surrounded by mountains and facing Fort Delgrès and La Soufrière, Marina Sud Ancrage is the only place on the leeward coast where you can berth in a marina.
Yachts with a draft over 2m should be careful (depth is 2.50m) and anchor south of the marina. The anchorage can be rough.

At the time of printing, the reconstruction work of the marina of Rivière-Sens after the passage of Fiona storm on September 17, 2022 was still pending. Limited capacity for visitors.
Antilles Yachting Services (05 90 94 54 86) - Opposite the marina, this complete shipchandler offers all you need in chandlery, electrical, electronics, paints and maintenance products, fishing gear and is equipped with a swaging machine for up to 16mm.

LES SAINTES

One of the most beautiful bays in the World
Les Saintes archipelago, a magical place extending over a turquoise sea in south-western Guadeloupe, is made up of two main islands Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas and six uninhabited islets. Les Saintes is a must-visit spot for boaters with numerous places to anchor, opposite the small town of Terre-de-Haut, at Pain de Sucre or in front of Ilet Cabrit.

Robbe Steack (05 90 98 48 24) - This small store is very popular with yachties and has a nice selection of deli, fresh meat, cold cuts, cheese (vacuum-packed upon request), wines. You can also have lunch on their terrace.

Le Fort Napoléon - Situated at an altitude of 114 m, around twenty minutes’ walk from the jetty, the Vauban-style fortress (a listed Historic Monument), surrounded by an unfilled moat, offers a breath-taking view of the Bay of the Saintes and Dominica.
MARIE-GALANTE

A land of rum, traditions, heritage
Round and low, Marie-Galante was discovered by Christopher Kolumbus during his second voyage. It is known as the “great pancake” or the “Island with one hundred mills” and is loved for its tranquility and the beauty of its shores. The anchorages are to the leeward of the islands.
ANSE CANOT
The most beautiful anchorage in Marie-Galante, to the North-West of the island, is popular with cruisers, who come for the white sandy beach and turquoise sea. The anchorage can often be rolly. Beware of the many fishing pots, ay the southern tip of the bay.
SAINT-LOUIS
A pretty fishing village, Saint-Louis bay is a great alternative to Anse Canot if there is a swell. Leave room for ferries. Moorings and a small dinghy dock. Be careful of lobster pots.
GRAND-BOURG
Grand Bourg is the main town in Marie-Galante and has a small harbor (often crowded) where you can either anchor or use the docks. Leave room for ferries.

Clearance at Chez Zèles in Saint-Louis and at the Customs (in French: Brigade de Surveillance des Douanes) in Grand-Bourg.
Water and electricity can be supplied to boaters (paid service) in Grand-Bourg only. You need to go to Communauté de Communes de Marie-Galante at office hours.

La Baleine Rouge (05 90 48 57 87) - A nice terrace overlooking the Bay of Saint-Louis where you can enjoy tasty fusion dishes made with fresh local produce. A restaurant-bar with a great location for those staying in the anchorage.
Aux Plaisirs des Marins (05 90 97 08 11) - Located on the beach in Saint-Louis, this is a very popular restaurant run by a local family. They serve simple but tasty creole food. Reservations are recommended.
