There are 10 active distilleries on Guadeloupe of which 9 produce rhum agricole, made from freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. The distilleries are freely accessible, they also welcome visitors for a guided tour and a sampling of their product.

BOLOGNE DISTILLERY
Basse-Terre / Basse-Terre

Bologne has been in business since 1887, which makes it one of the island’s oldest distilleries. Bologne is the only distillery
which still grows Black Cane known for its exceptional aromatic potential. Do not miss the guided tour in season.

DAMOISEAU DISTILLERY
Le Moule / Grande-Terre

The only distillery in Grande-Terre, the Damoiseau Distillery is Guadeloupe’s leading rum brand, marketed in mainland France as well as in more than 40 other countries. The Damoiseau Family has been making high quality rums for 70 years now. Go for a visit of the distillery, complete with its restored windmill.

BIELLE DISTILLERY
Grand-Bourg / Marie-Galante

Founded in the late 19th century, the Bielle Distillery has retained its charm of yesteryear. A small museum welcomes the remains of this ancient sugar mill. The free visit allows you to discover the entire production process, ending with sample tasting.


BELLEVUE DISTILLERY
Capesterre / Marie-Galante

The outfit boasts excellent, entirely ecofriendly production. It is recognized as the most modern unit in the French West Indies, the perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Bellevue Distillery is easily spotted thanks to a superb restored windmill, the only one working in the West Indies.

The Poisson Distillery, one of the smallest in the world, still uses an artisanal method of production, a copper column distillation that is faithful to the one devised by the famous Père Labat, which gives its rum a unique and highly distinctive taste!

Try the famous Reimonenq aged rums and visit Guadeloupe’s only rum museum where you will be shown every stage in the making of rum. It’s also an opportunity to discover a very beautiful butterfly collection and a vintage sailboat display.

Planteur (traditional rum punch)

Mix in a glass:
• 2 measures rhum vieux
• 4 measures tropical fruit juice
• a drop of sugar cane syrup sprinkle grated cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
Stir and serve.

Ti’Punch

Mix in a short glass:
• a measure of sugar cane syrup
• or a little raw sugar,
• a small piece of lime
• three or four measures of white rhum agricole.
